How Does The Vapefly Bellerophon RTA Perform?

For this review I have installed 1 of the 2, 0.24Ω Kanthal Coils that came with the kit and have filled the Bellerophon RTA with Prohibition Labs Mango Crusher. I will be using the Smok H-Priv 2 that I reviewed recently.Wismec Bellerophon RTA display

Installing a Coil

This is a very easy deck to build on, make sure your coil tails face opposite directions and just slide the tails in and screw down! For those with the Coily Tool I pre cut the tails at 4.5mm, for those without make sure you clip the leads precisely so that no wire sticks out or you will have difficulty screwing the deck back into the main structure.Wismec Bellerophon RTA tfire

The airflow ring is firm but not overly so; I had no problem turning the ring while on the mod! The internal AF they call Directional airflow system, the AF goes in the 2 outer Cylon slots and hits the side of your coil, personally I don’t think the internal AF slots are long enough as coils smaller than the ones supplied don’t line up well with the AF.

With the AF almost closed the vapour was cool and plentiful with a good flavour, a very decent mouth to lung style of vape; I was able to do a very restricted direct to lung with these settings.Wismec Bellerophon RTA osmlmed

45 – 60W

At 45 watts with the AF open to the half way point, direct to lung style I experienced a warmer vape with plenty of vapour and good flavour!

Knocking the wattage up to 50W and opening the AF full, the vapour was a wee bit warmer.

Taking the wattage up to 60w again the vapour was warmer the vape was fairly good and the flavour was fine, the vapour was quite thick.Wismec Bellerophon RTA osmlfar

Chain vaping

At 60w AF wide open for 8 toots, the RTA does get quite hot including the top cap, the low profile DT does not help as my lips kept touching the cap, however the tank does cool fairly quickly.

It’s not unusual to experience a little leaking with an RTA, I can say in my time with the Wismec Bellerophon RTA, I had no e-liquid escape at all; the only thing that drove me mad was the amount of vapour residue this tank gives out lol.

With the 0.24Ω coil installed I found that going over 60W I experienced dry hits and a burning taste, I would suggest a lower ohm coil for higher wattages something like 0.15Ω works great for 100+ watts.

Cut your cotton tails short dampen them and mold them into the wick spaces, don’t overlap the deck threads with cotton or you will have problems screwing the deck back into the main assembly.Wismec Bellerophon RTA cot damp

Don’t over tighten the top cap as I found out if you over tighten it is blinking hard to unscrew to refill lol.

  • Good flavour
  • Good vapour production
  • Good design
  • Very easy to build on
  • Excellent quality
  • Good looking tank

  • Chain vaping heat
  • Too lower profile drip tip (my opinion) no spare
  • Some liquid splash back at higher watts
  • Precisely cut wire is a must

The Almost-Adequate Wismec Bellerophon RTA Review

I’m in an RTA kinda mood, so let’s tackle one of the most interestingly named ones I’ve seen yet – the single-coil Wismec Bellerophon RTA. But, unless you like a challenge, I’ll save you the trouble of reading this entire piece – the Bellerophon RTA isn’t nearly as interesting as its name. And it’s a solid “no go” for me. But if you’re into devices that make you lose a few hairs (and layers of skin) read on – your new favorite RTA is here.

It all started so promisingly, save for the name, which is ridiculous. Based on the etching found on the chimney, it has something to do with winged horses and ancient mythology. In other words, it has nothing to do with vaping or flavor. I get that it’s getting harder and harder to carve some identity in this business, but Bellerophonhas zero connection to anything sensible.

Moving on to more important things… The assembled tank itself certainly looks like a top-tier RTA, with a unique shape, strong machining and a decided lack of “me too” design. But that’s when I learned Wismec left the quality machining for the exterior of the Bellerophon body.

The interior? Welllll…. let’s just say that my hands have enough bandaging to make me look like an NFL lineman. On both of the test models I received, the stainless-steel top cap felt like it was spot welded into place. And both of them required a rubber jar opener, hot water and some serious elbow grease before it would disassemble for cleaning.

(Sadly, one of the two test models didn’t survive the top cap bloodshed. Let’s all raise a glass to a fallen mythological hero.)

One thing that needs to be pointed out to fans of larger atomizers – the Bellerophon RTA is NOT a27mm tank like it’s advertised. The extended glass section hits that diameter, but the base is a comfortable and common 25mm, meaning overhang won’t be a concern for most. But, because of the squatty height, the Bellerophon seems a little bigger than it actually is. And with only 4mL of overall capacity, you’ll quickly realize the size is largely an illusion.Despite the fusion of metal on metal, the rest of the Wismec Bellerophon offering is decent, with the usual array of spare parts, tools, manuals, disclaimers, extra glass section and the now-requisite coils. All in all, a solid package from a veteran company.

The top cap concerns weren’t limited to the initial disassembly, though. Throughout my testing, the top cap needed a steady dose of e-liquid to keep things lubricated and threaded as intended. I have to say, it’s a damn shame that the cap continued to be a problem, because my overall opinion might have been different had things worked correctly. But then again, if a vape tank doesn’t open properly, then how can it compare to hundreds of competing items that DO?

The rest of the Bellerophon’s exterior is fairly standard stuff, with a bottom airflow ring that has a built-in stop/guard… and not nearly as much tension as the disastrous top cap.

Long story short – there are a ton of better RTAs on the market… many of which were released in the last few months, and at better prices.

Feature Highlights

Like most rebuildable atomizers, the Bellerophon RTA main selling point comes from its build deck. Of course, Wismec is claiming this build deck is far and away the greatest, most flavor-forward design available on six continents, but the proof always comes from the vaping, not the marketing words.

Spoiler alert – it’s not.

But I’ll give Wismec credit – at least this was a new idea, rather than a rehash of something we’ve seen done 1,000 times before. Here, each of the Bellerophon’s two massive posts has an airflow channel built into it, which lead to the lower airflow slots outside the tank. (Most tanks have a bottom airflow channel on the deck itself.)

But, sadly, this original design simply doesn’t work. For starters, even with the external airflow control open wide, there seems to be some resistance on deeper draws, which led me to several rounds of dry hits. I never felt like my inhales were truly registering against the coils, and the muted flavor and limp vapor production only solidified my point.

Building on this deck is an absolute pleasure. Using the “pressure plate” style of lead capture, the Bellerophon is about as friendly a build deck as you’ll find, and within seconds of disassembly, I had my coils in place and ready to wick. I initially used the coils provided in the box but didn’t like the way they kept scorching my wicks, so I built my own and had better results.

So, for those keeping score – the Bellerophon gets an “A” for ease of building. The performance? Well, let’s address that after a few words from our sponsors.

Observations While Vaping

There really isn’t too much to say here. Like I mentioned a few paragraphs ago, the performance of the Wismec Bellerophon RTA was too stiff and muted for me to enjoy with any consistency. Even with several sets of coils and wicks, I couldn’t get the Bellerophonto TRULY let down its hair, and almost all of my draws were weak and punchless.

While I love that the RTA doesn’t leak (like most of them do, to be honest) I haven’t been able to get the Bellerophon to make that kickass, flavorful cloud of vapor I expected when first receiving the device. No matter how I built, wicked or chose my e-liquid, the end result was the same – disappointment.

Now, I know a single-coil setup on an RTA this wide might imply muted flavors and less vapor, I’ve seen plenty of other RTAs and tanks pull off a hell of lot more performance. And with a lot less frustration.

Bottom Line

Long story short – there are a ton of better RTAs on the market… many of which were released in the last few months, and at better prices.

Once I had all the quirks worked out of the Wismec Bellerophon RTA, I was left with a serviceable, almost-adequate vape. But there’s a reason Wismec didn’t use the words “serviceable” and “adequate” on their packaging – because vapers have come to expect more… and they deserve more, to boot.

Review: SMOK Rolo Badge Ultra Portable System

Focus On www.urvapin.com For More Vape Start Kit.

The SMOK Rolo Badge Ultra Portable System will probably catch your attention, first and foremost, with its design. Shaped like a badge—hence, the name—the SMOK Rolo Badge is available in an array of colors, all of which are aesthetically pleasing. From a vaping manufacturer that has delivered so many innovative mods and tanks, it’s no wonder that SMOK hasn’t had any trouble creating such a nice pod style vaping device.

The Pros of the SMOK Rolo Badge Ultra Portable System

Typically designed with ex-smokers in mind, pod mods are simple to use. These types of ultra portable vaping devices are made to be convenient, so it’s easy to adjust to a pod mod when kicking the cigarettes. The Rolo Badge is 62g, so it’s very light-weight and thin enough to fit inside the pocket of your jeans.

The Nitty-Gritty

As a pod mod system, the SMOK Rolo Badge Ultra Portable System should not be compared to a vaping device such as a mod or a pen style vape. Pod mods are completely different. They are lower wattage devices, so don’t go expecting a system like the SMOK Rolo to deliver extensive clouds. The SMOK Rolo is a lovely pod mod and does exactly what it was made to do. It vapes at around 10 to 16W, has a 2ml capacity, and utilizes fillable pods, or cartridges. It’s also a very affordable device, which is another plus for new vapers or those of you on a budget.

The SMOK Rolo Badge is meant for MTL vaping, generally for use with higher level nicotine e-liquids or nicotine salts. No intense lung-hits here, but you will find that the SMOK Rolo will provide you with nice flavor and a decent throat hit.

It’s as easy as pie to use the Rolo, too. With a draw-activated firing system, all you have to do is inhale to fire the Rolo.

What’s Inside the Kit?

Inside the SMOK Rolo Badge Ultra Portable System kit, you will find the SMOK Rolo Badge, two Rolo Badge cartridges, a Micro USB cable, an instruction manual, and an e-liquid injection bottle.

Is an Ultra Portable Vaping System like the SMOK Rolo Badge for Me?

Want a device that fits inside of your pocket? The SMOK Rolo Badge can be taken just about anywhere without a lot of effort. If you want a system that vapes closer to an e-cigarette hybrid, then the Rolo Badge will definitely suit you. The device functions like a dream. Another pro? The SMOK Rolo cartridges are refillable with whatever e-liquid you would like to use. That’s a huge factor to consider since many similar devices are not refillable and only offer their own compatible, pre-filled cartridges. If you’re a nicotine salt user, a newer vaper, or an MTL vaper, you will love the SMOK Rolo Badge. However, if you’re a self-proclaimed box mod vaper, the SMOK Rolo Badge probably isn’t the device that you’re looking for.

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA Review | Full Flavor Vape Experience

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA is a great flavor chaser addition

Whats in the package

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA what's in the box

The usual OBS cardboard box is of nice design and has all the basic info on the content.

Inside the box you will find the following:

1 x OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA
1 x Mini Phillips Screwdriver
1 x ULTEM Drip Tip
1 x Pair Prebuilt Clapton Coils
1 x Piece of Organic Cotton
1 x Spare Part Pack
1 x User Manual

We were lucky to get the black color that we asked for as soon afterwards it got hard to find. There are also blue, gold and silver colors available.

The black color version is a little too shiny for me and I would prefer a matte paint finish.

As you can see, the OBS standard contents gets you all you need to start enjoying the full flavor vape. Let’s take a look at the details.

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA Basic Info

If you have regular OBS Cheetah II, you will only notice the difference in diameter: instead the bigger brother’s base diameter of 24mm and the height of 34mm, the Cheetah II Mini RDA measures 22mm in diameter and 35.5mm in height.

The OBS Cheetah II Mini has a dual coil a two post build deck with a single terminal and bottom clamp system. It is tightened by top mounted phillips screws.

The openings of 3mm by 2mm of each terminal and 3.5mm by 2mm of each clamp opening allow for easy coil placement and the peek insulator seams of good quality.

Again, the 18mm deck diameter will make coil building easy and there’s also a generous 6mm deep juice well. The two dual adjustable top air slots will let you tweak the desired AF easily.

As for the materials used, the RDA is made of 304 stainless steel with the quality 24k gold plated 510 contact positive screw. 810 Ultem drip tip will prevent too much heat on your lips.

The OBS Cheetah II Mini sits well and looks good on all the best box mods and tubes that are 22mm in diameter.

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA design and build quality

The overall design and build quality are top notch! As for the, machining, it is nice and smooth and the orings are great: even when you juice them up, the orings will hold together firmly.

The height of the AF slots is perfect and it will prevent accidental leaking. These slots are also accountable for a smooth and quiet vape experience with this RDA.

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA breakdown of parts

The Deck and the Juice Well

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA the deck and juice well

If I had to point out the best feature of this RDA, it’s definitely the brand new two-post build deck with clamp system. The 18mm deck on OBS Cheetah 2 Mini is spacious enough for chunky coils.

In addition, each post deck consists of a clamp mechanism on one terminal, and the regular flathead screws at the top on the other terminal. This mixes up the classic feel of an RDA with a very secure clamp system for all four contact points.

The coil insertion hole on each terminal is very generous in size and so is the gap on each bottom clamp. Because of this feature, you’ll be able to fit in all kind of complex round or flat coils with no hassle. They will all sit tight in there once you tighten all the screws to ensure stable resistance readings and contact.

The Setup and Wicking is a Breeze

I first tested the OBS Cheetah II Mini with N80 Fused Clapton coils,  of 0.32mm*3 +0.08mm with the inner diameter of 3mm.

With six wraps I got the resistance of 0.2ohms. The way the posts are designed there is next to no coil adjustments and inserting the coils is a breeze. The wicking on Cheetah II Mini is super easy. as well.

With this setup, the most enjoyable vape for me was up to 65W. Anything higher gave me a tad too warm vape for my taste, but this is an individual preference.

The sweet spot of 65W gave me an enjoyable, full flavor vape with great vapor production.

Overall, I’m more than happy with the vape I got from this little RDA.

OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA setup and wicking
OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA more than enough airflow at two thirds open

Apart from missing the squonk pin, this is a great RDA when it comes to vaping experience overall.

Considering the rising popularity of squonk mods, why the BF squonk pin is missing at this day and age when almost all RDAs come with one is beyond me. This is the only con worth mentioning for OBS Cheetah II Mini RDA.

Everything else is solid. The overall design and machining quality, the ease of setup and the deep juice well – a 10/10.

The flavor is really pronounced and the vapor production will suit most tastes. The adjustment of AF is very easy and efficient and all parts work really well.

Just because of the lack of squonking pin, our final rating is solid 9/10.
